requite, triste, sangfroid

Monday's Sting / Annie Lennox concert was great. This is the 2nd time I've seen Sting -- the first time was in 1997 back home at the ULTRA. Excellent musicianship was exhibited by the band. The Tweeter Center is a nice venue, but the sound could've been a bit louder. Or maybe we were just seated too far away. My one beef with the concert is that they didn't play I Was Brought To My Senses, my favorite Sting tune.

Tuesday I got to eat at Victoria's Seafood restaurant, courtesy of Maya and Andre. I practically wolfed down the delectable viands (fried salted squid, salted lobster and peking duck), despite not having gotten any sleep the previous night.

Wednesday I went to see The Mahavishnu Project play at Johnny D's in Somerville. Awesome, awesome band playing awesome, awesome music. The Mahavishnu Orchestra is one of my favorite bands and it was beyond great hearing their music played by insanely gifted musicians. 95% of their set was determined by requests from the audience. The highlight of the evening for me was when they sandwiched Birds of Fire between Dance of Maya. It was too bad I didn't have enough cash with me to pick up their double CD Phase 2. I'll certainly be on the lookout for it.

Friday night I got treated to Spider-Man 2 by Peng to requite for my helping her out at work Thursday night.

Amidst my recent problems and heartaches it seems I managed to enjoy the week. So why am I still feeling especially down? I think this triste mood has even broken through my usual sangfroid*.

Here's an eerie coincidence: My horoscope on wednesday's Metro read,
"You can put an end to pretense -- at least among family members who have been living a lie, however trivial, for too long."
That was just way too much on the ball. And I never, ever read horoscopes save for that day. Spooky.

now playing: Klaus Schulze - Dune
